Mill Creek & Coles Run Reservoirs

Mills Creek (14 acres) and Coles Run (11 acres), are located in the Glenwood and Pedlar Ranger District of the George Washington and Jefferson National Forests. They are both Augusta County water supply reservoirs that opened to public fishing in 1990.

Due to Augusta County permanently lowering Mills Creek Reservoir level by 36 feet several years ago. The DWR discontinued stocking fingerling Brook Trout in the reservoir.  There is no longer sufficient cold water temperatures during the summer months to support trout.

DWR annually stocks fingerling Brook Trout into Coles Run Reservoir and manages it as a put-grow-take trout fishery.

There are no facilities and access is about a 0.5-mile walk to Coles Run and 1.5 miles to Mills Creek. For more information, call the Glenwood Ranger District in Natural Bridge Station at 540-291-2189. Access is west of Route 664 at Sherando off of Forest Development Road (FDR) 42.
