Project Wild is a national Kindergarten through 12th grade
wildlife education program correlated to the Virginia Science
Standards of Learning. Two Activity Guides, an Introductory
Guide and an Aquatic Guide, provide educators with the information
needed to teach wildlife conservation and the importance of
habitat. Six-hour in-service workshops are scheduled statewide,
usually by local school systems. The workshop is provided at no
cost by the Department of Game & Inland Fisheries and the VA
Division of the Izaak Walton League. Educators receive an
activity guide and information on Virginia's wildlife during the
workshop.
Project WILD
activities are also suitable for use in youth programs such as Scouts
and 4-H. Workshops designed for youth group leaders are also
available.

- The Virginia
WILD School Sites Mini-Grant will not be available for the
2005-2006 school year. Although the Virginia Chapter of The
Wildlife Society has supported this program for the past five
years and continues to encourage habitat improvement projects,
the Chapter is unfortunately no longer able to fund the grant.
