Determining Pond Size
(A range finder can be used to determine distance)
|Square or rectangular pond||= (length x width)/43,560|
|Round pond||= (radius2 x 3.14)/43,560|
|radius – is the distance from the shore to the center of a round pond|
|radius2 – is the value of the radius multiplied times itself|
|Triangular pond||= ((length of dam x total length of pond)/2)/43,560|
Average Depth can be determined by making 4 transects per acre of water, recording depth measurements at three foot intervals along each transect and then averaging all the numbers.
