The Doe Creek Wildlife Management Area is located on the bay side of the Eastern Shore of Virginia, near the Town of Onancock in Accomack County.

Description

Doe Creek WMA is composed mostly of upland pine and hardwood mixed forest. The 447-acre tract also includes managed impoundments which provide hunters with the opportunity to harvest waterfowl. The area provides excellent wildlife viewing opportunities. This WMA provides habitat for a multitude of species including white-tailed deer, and eastern wild turkeys.

Hunting

Doe Creek WMA features waterfowl deer, turkey, and small game hunting.

  • October - April:
    • Closed Monday - Saturday for wildlife management and hunting purposes. Hunting opportunities are available through quota hunts and managed hunts.
    • Open Sundays for wildlife viewing, sunrise to sunset.
  • May - August:
    • Open for wildlife viewing, sunrise to sunset.

Doe Creek WMA is not open for the early urban archery season. This season was initiated for suburban localities as a deer management tool and is not intended for Wildlife Management Areas.

Doe Creek WMA is not open for the September goose and teal seasons.

Facilities

A parking area provides access to the WMA and the nearby Mink Farm Tract lease area.
