Characteristics

As in all treefrogs, this species has sucking discs on the tips of toes. This species is skinny with short hind legs and is able to change color to some degree. The color is variable from green to green brown and gray with a star shaped mark on the back and a dark bordered light spot below the eye. This species breeds from March to June. This species seems to call from a lower height than H. versicolor. It can be distinguished by the higher frequency of trill.

Distribution

They are found in wooded stretches along creeks, rivers and pools.

Foods

These frogs forage for insects among trees and shrubs and on the ground.
