Slate River Impoundment

Slate River Impoundment is located almost entirely within the Appomattox-Buckingham State Forest. When this 38-acre watershed was created, a great deal of standing timber was left to provide fish habitat. The lake is shallow, stump-filled, and has an abundance of aquatic vegetation. Slate River offers a warmwater fishery for largemouth bass, bream, and chain pickerel.
