Great Creek Watershed Lake

This 212-acre joint water supply and flood control lake in Brunswick County provides many angling opportunities in a peaceful setting at this lake.

The lake is open to the public from one hour before sunrise to one hour after sunset, at which time a gate on the access road may be closed.

Activities prohibited at this lake include swimming, open-air fires, trotlines, fishing tournaments involving prizes, littering, waterfowl hunting, camping, and seining. In addition, the use of gasoline motors will not be allowed on the lake. Anglers planning to travel the entire reservoir with an electric motor are cautioned that two batteries may be required. The access road to the lake is located off Route 46, approximately one mile north of the Town of Lawrenceville, across from James Solomon Junior High School.

Visitors to this lake can expect good largemouth bass, crappie, and sunfish fishing. Channel catfish will be stocked every year until the fish populations begin to stabilize.

Regulations

  • Largemouth bass: 14–18 slot, 5 per day (all bass 14 to 18 inches must be released unharmed)
  • Sunfish: no size limit, 50 per day
  • Crappie: no size limit, 25 per day
  • Channel catfish: 15 inches minimum, 8 per day

The following are prohibited on this property: Outboard motor use, swimming, open air fires, trotlines, littering, sailboats, alcohol, fishing tournaments involving prizes, and camping.

Facilities, Amenities, and Nearby Attractions

DWR developed a boat ramp and courtesy pier at the lake, and Brunswick County is currently developing various public facilities.
