Hunter Education/Training Program Office Assistant

General Description:

The volunteer will provide administrative and secretarial support for the Hunter Education/Training Program at the Richmond headquarters with the focus being educational outreach, public safety, laws and regulations, and recreational opportunities through the development of skills. The volunteer will also assist in planning and implementing Hunter Education/Training events.

Specific Duties:

  • Maintain work flow and functions of the office
  • Distribute mail and other items to staff
  • Inform staff of urgent or critical correspondence in a timely manner
  • Handle and maintain files in a secure and confidential manner
  • Handle incoming correspondence and inquiries from the public
  • Copy training materials to support the hunter education/training program
  • Assist with logistics at events that promote program endeavors
  • Answer questions and route persons/calls to the appropriate staff
  • Assist with the accurate and appropriate recording of student and instructor records
  • Assist with the maintenance of applicable equipment in good working order


  • Working knowledge of generally accepted office practices and procedures
  • Ability to use basic office equipment, telephone, copier, fax, computer
  • Computer literacy and knowledge of generally used software is a plus
  • Good communication and language skills
  • Ability to maintain a cooperative working relationship with staff and the public
  • Ability to provide courteous customer service to visitors and callers
  • Ability to promote a positive attitude and willingness to learn
