CornerStone Farm is a working farm, as well as a beautiful bed and breakfast. The property provides 92-acres of diverse habitat for a variety of wildlife experiences. Ward and Barbara are as knowledgeable about the birds and their natural surroundings as they are about their farm animals. They have a running list of 120 species of birds on their web site for avid birders. As this is a working farm, please respect signs and avoid marked areas, but make sure you take the opportunity to see the goats and other animals during your stay.
Your wildlife viewing can start as you approach the house on the main driveway. Watch and listen for eastern bluebirds, song sparrows, American kestrels, or a northern harrier can be a treat. After you settle into your room, walk the miles of trails available on this farm. A pond and a large beaver swamp provide opportunities to see great blue and green heron, solitary sandpiper, and bald eagles on occasion. The habitat here also provides opportunities to every species of Virginia woodpecker and owl in a relatively small area.
