Site CSY08: Little Island, Lotus Garden Parks
This bathing beach provides public beach access in an area where many coastal lands are privately owned. The summer season may provide a chance to frolic in the surf but winter brings ample opportunity to view many diving ducks, gulls and Atlantic bottle-nosed dolphins. Little Island's informal launch is on the other side of the road and offers another access point for canoes and kayaks to explore the extensive salt marshes. Lotus Gardens From Little Island Park, travel north on Sandpiper Road to Sandbridge Road. Turn left onto Sandbridge Road and follow it for approximately 2.0 miles. Lotus Garden Park will be on the left directly after Colchester Road. This small lake provides water access in the form of an 8-mile canoe trip that finishes on the opposite side of the bridge where you put in. It is one of the few water trails where drop-off and pickup are at the same point.
From Back Bay National Wildlife Refuge, return north on Sandpiper Road for 0.4 miles. The park is on the right.
