Site CSF04: Lone Star Lakes
The Lone Star Lakes site is situated along the Nansemond River, Cedar Creek, and Chuckatuck Creek, tributaries to the lower James River. The site is blessed with miles of access for hikers, bicyclists, and boaters. Habitats in the park include saltwater and freshwater wetlands, mixed deciduous forests, lakes, and agricultural fields. Breeding woodland birds are plentiful, as are numerous species of wintering waterfowl including lesser scaup, hooded merganser, and canvasback. During summer, weedy fields and forest edge present a multitude of butterflies.
