Reduce fall turkey season in some areas.
Some areas with low turkey densities have experienced long-term declines in turkey populations. Reducing the fall either sex season may increase hen survival and promote higher populations.
Suggestions have been made to:
a. reduce the current 6 week season to a 2 week fall season in the northern piedmont counties of Alebmarle, Greene, Madison, Orange , Louisa, and Spotsylvania.
b. reduce the current 6 week season to a 2 week fall season in southwest counties of Dickenson, Wise, Lee, Scott, and Russell.
