VDGIF Comments on the Draft Rappahannock Watershed Management Plan

Revised Fredericksburg Watershed Property Management Plan

On Tuesday, January 11, 2011, the Fredericksburg City Council unanimously voted to accept a revised Draft of the Fredericksburg Watershed Property Management Plan into policy. This decision was made after a revision to the Draft Plan was requested by Council at their December 14, 2010 meeting to include two additional safety zones around popular camping areas on the Rappahannock and Rapidan Rivers in Stafford and Spotsylvania Counties, respectively. Consequently, a new map and additional verbage was added to the Draft Plan referencing the additional safety zones. As a result, the updated draft describes and depicts a total of three safety zones around three respective, very popular and heavily used camping areas located in the confluence area of the Rapidan and Rappahannock Rivers. These modifications to the plan were the only ones requested by City Council.
