Board of Game and Inland Fisheries Meeting

The Board of Game and Inland Fisheries Meeting will be held on August 21, 2007 beginning at 9:00am. The meeting will be held in the Board Room located at 4000 West Broad Street. The Board will receive reports from the Board committees on Education, Planning and Outreach; Finance, Audit and Compliance and Wildlife and Boat. Pursuant to 29.1-528, Code of Virginia as amended by the 2007 General Assembly, the Board will consider for proposal model ordinances related to hunting with firearms that may be adopted by localities. The Board will hear the public's comments on non-agenda items. The Board may also discuss general and administrative issues, and hold a closed session during the meeting. The Board will also receive staff's recommendations for migratory waterfowl (ducks and coots, geese and brant, swan, gallinules and moorehens) and falconry seasons and bag limits based on frameworks provided by the U. S. Fish and Wildlife Service; solicit and hear comments from the public; and then intends to adopt 2007-2008 seasons and bag limits for those species. The Board also will accept public comments on the regulation amendments it proposed at its July 17, 2007 meeting as part of its 2007 Periodic Regulation Review and Amendment Process. Further Board action on the proposed regulation amendments is not scheduled for the August 21 meeting; the Board intends to address the proposals for possible adoption as final regulations or regulation amendments at its October 16, 2007 meeting.
