Informal Survey

Deadline Extended!

Hunting with Hounds in Virginia informal survey submissions are now due by Friday, May 23rd. This deadline applies to both online and paper versions of the survey.

About the Informal Survey:

The purpose of the Hunting with Hounds informal survey is to identify and compare the experiences of stakeholders on issues and events related to hunting with hounds in Virginia. This public input opportunity should not be construed as a chance to vote for or against hunting with hounds in Virginia; rather, it is another way relevant information can be passed to the SAC, Virginia Tech, VDGIF and their Board, and other decision makers about issues related to hound hunting in the Commonwealth. All issues relevant to hound hunting, whether perceived to be positive or negative, are being addressed in the informal survey.

The informal survey is available to anyone who wants to take it. Although it is a valuable tool, a survey conducted in this open manner cannot provide statistically accurate estimates of public opinion on such complicated issues. For this reason, results will be summarized and considered as yet another type of public input, similar to the focus group meetings, content analysis of letters and emails, and comments received during public meetings.

Taking the Survey Online:

In order to better protect the integrity of the informal survey, the questionnaire has been password protected. If you wish to take the survey, you will need to obtain a unique password. To obtain a unique password and take the survey:

  1. Send an email to HoundHuntingSurvey@vt.edu
  2. Type the word "request" in the subject line. No additional information is needed.
  3. Within a few days, you will receive a response with a unique password and a link to the informal survey.
  4. Click on or copy and paste the link into your web browser to access the questionnaire.
  5. When prompted, type in the password exactly as it appears in your email.

The informal survey will be available online until May 23, 2008.

Taking a Paper Version of the Survey:

The paper version of the survey is identical to the online version. If you have taken or intend to take the online version, please do not take the paper version. Responses from the same person do not add any new information to the analysis. For the same reason, please limit paper versions to one per person.
