Outdoor Activities: Avid hunter, fisherman, and camper. I especially enjoy fishing for largemouth and smallmouth bass. I probably spend close to 50-60 days in the field a year. My hunting interests include muzzle loading for deer, regular deer season (with and without hounds), and of course rabbit hunting with hounds. I am the owner of the Teufelhunde Kennel and at the present time have 9 adult beagles and a litter of 7 pups.
Hound Hunting Interest/Issues: Humans hunting with hounds is a tradition that predates recorded history. In addition, the way I see it, many of the species of game animals currently being pursued by hunters would be impossible, if hounds were removed from the pursuit. The possibility that future generations might not be able to experience the "chorus" of the hounds as they fulfill the purpose to which they are bred is too sad to contemplate. Therefore, the tradition of hound hunting in the Commonwealth of Virginia must be maintained. I believe that the members of Stakeholder Advisory Committee have the ability to assist the VA Department of Game and Inland Fisheries in resolving the various hound hunting issues that have arisen between the various stakeholder interests. I am confident that by working together, we can develop some suitable options. I greatly appreciate the opportunity to serve on this committee.
