Mint Springs consists of two lakes of four and eight acres respectively, and the Albemarle County Parks Department administers it. The upper lake is part of the Department's put-and-take trout stocking program. The County Parks Department, in cooperation with the local chapter of Trout Unlimited, conducts a "Kids Only Fishing Day" event during spring of each year. As well as the trout, the lake also has largemouth bass and bluegill. Swimming is the big attraction in the larger lake during the summer, but there is ample room for anglers to enjoy shore fishing. Like all Albemarle County Park lakes, Mint Spring is open from 7:00 a.m. to dark. Restroom facilities, a handicapped-accessible fishing pier, a wheelchair accessible playground, and picnic areas are available at Mint Springs.
