Amelia Lake - News & Reports
Fish Stocking
Fish stocking to supplement existing fisheries is performed on an annual basis. Channel catfish fingerlings are stocked every year at a density of 15 fish per acre.
Regulations
The largemouth bass 12-15 inch slot limit was changed back to the statewide no size limit regulation in 2001. This change will hopefully encourage anglers to harvest fish of all sizes to reduce over-crowding of bass. The statewide creel limit of five bass per day is still in effect.
Fish Habitat
In an effort to provide better fishing opportunities, several hinge trees were felled at Amelia in 2004. In addition, Christmas trees have been sunk each winter since 2004 near the fishing pier and other site on the lake to provide cover for sunfish species and hopefully increase catch rates for Amelia anglers.
