James River Fishing Challenge

James River Days is a project coordinated by the James River Advisory Council in cooperation with agencies and organizations that have an interest in and responsibility for the James River, such as the Virginia Department of Game & Inland Fisheries. James River Days boasts a calendar of over 100 programs that you can participate in. Programs provide recreational, historic, and environmental education opportunities focusing on the James River.

To help freshwater anglers participate in the James River Days the Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries sponsors the James River Fishing Challenge. It's simple but not necessarily easy... anglers are challenged to catch a trophy-size fish from the James River during the month of June. Those who accomplish this feat are eligible to receive a special event pin from the Department of Game and Inland Fisheries.

To receive a pin, trophy fish must be registered with Virginia Angler Recognition Program by July 31st. For more information, or a registration form, contact the Virginia Angler Recognition Program at (804) 367-1293.
