Reporting a Stolen Boat
If your boat is stolen you should contact a law enforcement agency to make a report immediately!
You may contact either your local police agency or the Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries (VDGIF) Law Enforcement division at (804) 367-1000 to ensure that the theft is reported and documented.
You are required by law to notify VDGIF of a theft even if you have already reported a boat as stolen to a local police agency and have received a documented report from that agency.
A Report of a Stolen Boat form will need to be completed and signed by the owner(s) in order to report the theft to VDGIF. You may either mail the form to:
