If you have lost your card, please review the following information:

All Classroom Courses and Internet Courses Taken After January 1, 2009

Internet Course Replacement Cards for Classes taken Prior to January 1, 2009

If you took an internet course prior to January 1, 2009, you should check with your original course provider to obtain a replacement card. Internet course providers can be contacted at the telephone numbers below:

Lifetime Boater’s Card

lifetime-boater-card-sampleThe Lifetime Virginia Boating Safety Education Card is available to those who meet the boating safety education requirement. This durable, driver’s license styled card is available for a fee of $10.00.

The cost for this card is $10.

Virginia Lifetime Boating Safety Education cards for any approved internet courses (taken after 2009) can be ordered by clicking this link (note, this will take you to www.ilostmycard.com who is managing boating safety certificates for the Virginia Department of Wildlife Resources). The cost for this card is $10. Please note, course records from internet course providers are uploaded to this system on a quarterly basis.

If you are asked to contact the toll free number it means that your information needs to be updated.

If you have met one of the exemptions below, but would like to obtain a Lifetime Virginia Boating Safety Education Card, you must fill out an application, include documentation of your exemption, and mail it to the address listed on the application. Please note, your card will not include the NASBLA logo and will not be valid in other state’s that require boating safety education.

  • Possess or once possessed a valid license to operate a vessel issued to maritime personnel by the United States Coast Guard or a marine certificate issued by the Canadian government
  • Possess a Canadian Pleasure Craft Operator’s Card
  • Possess or once possessed a commercial fisherman registration
  • Current or previous surface warfare officer/enlisted surface warfare specialist certification in the United States Navy.
