Curtis Dixon Colgate (Chairman)
Hello. I represent the Second Congressional District of Virginia—which includes the City of Virginia Beach, parts of the Cities of Hampton and Norfolk, and the Counties of Accomack and Northampton on the Eastern Shore.
I have had a love for the outdoors my entire life. Whether living on a farm, a small town, or a city, I have always drawn to the tranquility of the outdoors and the recreation it offers.
Being an avid sportsman, when life permits I enjoy my favorite hobbies. When fishing, I can often be found casting for pan fish and bass on Bugg's Island Lake, fly fishing for trout in the mountain streams of Virginia, fishing for flounder and striper in the Chesapeake Bay, or trolling for marlin off the Gulf Stream. I also greatly enjoy hunting: whether for deer in Southside Virginia, waterfowl around the Bay, or upland game birds in Central and Tidewater Virginia.
I have lived in Virginia Beach for the past seven years, but was raised in Chase City, VA. I am a graduate of Bluestone High School, class of 1997, and Hampden-Sydney College, class of 2001. In my professional life, I am the managing partner for Peaceful Valley Limited Partnership. I am a member of several sportsmen's organizations and am honored to now be a member of the Board of Game and Inland Fisheries and the Wildlife Foundation of Virginia.
I look forward to serving the Commonwealth and this Department during my term and doing all that is possible to preserve outdoor traditions and our habitat for the following generations.
